Energizing Columbus together.

Clean Energy Columbus is the City's community choice aggregation program, delivering 100% clean energy and electricity savings to residents and small businesses since 2021.

Our story

A city-wide decision to choose cleaner energy.

In November 2020, Columbus residents voted to approve a community choice aggregation program — giving the City the authority to negotiate electricity supply on behalf of residents and small businesses. Clean Energy Columbus launched in 2021 and has grown into one of the top-ranked CCA programs in the nation.

The program is run by the City of Columbus in partnership with Trebel, the energy aggregation administrator, and AEP Energy, the licensed retail electricity supplier. Together, they deliver 100% clean energy at competitive rates to over 220,000 Columbus customers.

The Clean Energy Columbus Program is one part of the City's broader commitment to reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. Cleaner energy means healthier communities, economic prosperity, and more opportunities for everyone in Columbus.
