$70 million back in Columbus pockets.
Since the program launched in 2021, Clean Energy Columbus has saved participating customers over $70 million on their electricity bills — compared to what they would have paid at AEP Ohio's standard Price to Compare rate.
For the average Columbus household using 1,000 kWh per month, that translates to approximately $115 in annual savings in the current 2026–27 contract year. In prior years — particularly Jun 2023–May 2024, when AEP Ohio's standard rate averaged ~11.32¢/kWh versus CEC's 7.99¢ — savings were even greater.
The program's fixed-rate contract structure means participants are protected from mid-year rate fluctuations that affect customers on AEP Ohio's variable standard offer.
