Home Understanding Your Bill

Your bill, decoded.

Here's exactly where Clean Energy Columbus appears on your AEP Ohio bill — and what every line item means.

Your AEP Ohio bill

Where CEC shows up

Your electricity bill still comes from AEP Ohio — that doesn't change when you enroll in Clean Energy Columbus. But inside that bill, you'll notice one key difference in the supply section.

Look for the Generation/Supply or Electric Supply section of your AEP Ohio bill. If you're enrolled in Clean Energy Columbus, you'll see:

  • Supplier: AEP Energy (not AEP Ohio)
  • Rate: The current CEC supply rate (10.01¢/kWh for Jun 2026–May 2027)
  • Product: May reference "Clean Energy Columbus" or "CCA" program

Everything else on your bill — delivery charges, distribution fees, transmission charges, taxes — is unchanged. AEP Ohio continues to maintain your lines and deliver your electricity.

Common questions

Bill questions, answered.

Seasonal changes in electricity usage (air conditioning in summer, heating in winter) are typically the cause of higher bills — not CEC. The CEC rate is fixed for the full contract year, so it doesn't fluctuate. If anything, the CEC rate is lower than AEP Ohio's variable standard offer, meaning you're paying less per kWh than you would otherwise.

If the Generation/Supply section of your AEP Ohio bill shows AEP Ohio (not AEP Energy) as the supplier, you may not be enrolled. Contact us at 866-856-5654 or check your eligibility at the AEP Energy enrollment portal to confirm and enroll if eligible.

For outages, downed lines, or delivery issues: contact AEP Ohio as normal. For questions about the CEC supply rate or your enrollment status: contact Clean Energy Columbus at 866-856-5654 or AEP Energy at 877-726-0214.
